Since its creation in the mid-Nineties, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA, has been a major cause of concern for people working both inside and outside the health care industry. 

This training is designed to give employees an overview of HIPAA and its general requirements.

Who needs HIPAA Compliance Training?

This training is designed for all employees who work for companies affected by HIPAA, but are not responsible for administering a HIPAA compliance program. 

Course Topics

• Recall the history and purpose of HIPAA, and recognize general HIPAA terminology
• Identify the five rules created by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as required by HIPAA
• Identify the different company statuses and responsibilities under HIPAA

Course Objectives

Learners who successfully complete this course should be able to identify the purpose, basic terminology, and common actions companies must take to comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA.
